Discarded Treasure

Stainless Steel Teapot

On my way out yesterday morning, I spied this teapot abandoned in the trash.  I snatched it up and examined it closely.  It's stainless steel, with heat resistant handles and a little mechanism to keep the lid on when the handle is up.  And it's spotless!  Probably holds two liters.  Well, I couldn't pass it up.  It reminds me of something that would appear in one of the many still lifes I had to draw in any number of drawing classes I have taken.  It also seems like something that would be passed down from generation to generation along the female line.

Comfort Food

Chorizo and Eggs

Yesterday, for various reasons I wont go into here, I was feeling the need for comfort food.  I had purchased the ingredients to make homemade chorizo the week before, keeping the pork frozen until I wanted to use it, and was now ready to create.

1 lb. ground pork
1 T salt
2 oz vinegar
(preferably from a jar of pickled peppers)
as much chili powder as the meat will absorb
minced garlic
1 t oregano
Thanks to Melody for this recipe!

Buying ground (or minced, as they call it here) meat in Singapore is always an adventure, so I bought it whole and ground it myself in the cuisinart.  I used the cuisinart to add the rest of the ingredients to the meat, and then pulled off a smallish portion to cook up for my dinner.  Ahh, Mexican food.

Bath Mitt!

Bath Mitt
Pattern Here

Well, since I couldn't quilt, I decided to do a little crochet project.  I thought I might run out of blue yarn, and sure enough.  So I made a bath mitt that looks like it came from Ikea.  So what?  I used it this morning, and it was lovely.  Lots of lather and just the right amount of exfoliation.  Now, if I could just keep it from growing longer and longer....
