Finishing One, Starting the Next
Nearing The Finish Line: Perseverance
The start of the next one.
It's so nice to have the next design ready in my mind as soon as I finish the previous quilt. This comes from keeping a sketchbook handy - a trick I learned from my sister. But all day today and all day yesterday my mind has been working on the new design: a mental place I just love to live in. And I know that when I'm sleeping, more good ideas come, and some not so good. Those get discarded.

Technology
My "vintage" Nokia handphone
Yesterday, I got a call from my husband. He needed me to meet him so we could take care of getting our green cards. As I was traveling towards that destination, he called again to inform me that we needed our daughter to come, too. School had just gotten out, but she had not turned on her hand phone. So, I called the school, and a few minutes later, she called me back.
I had to get off the train, cross the platform and go back three stops so that I could meet her. We communicated a few times, via our hand phones, until we were together, and then I called my husband again to inform him we were both coming. She and I got back on the train, and within a few stops, my husband called again to tell me he didn't have the necessary paperwork to complete the transaction, so we would have to do it another day, but could we meet him for dinner?
Long story short, if we hadn't had the hand phones, all three of us, none of this would have been so smooth. As it was, the entire trip took 3 hours, including dinner, but it could have taken much longer.

Getting Into A Routine
Well, unfortunately, I can't seem to load any photos to Blogger today. But, let me tell you why I'm thankful anyway.
Yesterday I did the grocery shopping. This is something that has become routine for me, living in Singapore. I know just what bus to catch and where to get off and how to get the groceries home (taxi) and it's all pretty uncomplicated.
Unfortunately, without notice, things that seem easy can change at the merest whim in Singapore. And being jetlagged, I was not prepared for things to go haywire.
And, they didn't. I was able to do the shopping like a million times before, got every item on my list (except for one thing, can't remember what now...). I came home and put all the groceries away and felt so content. And really pleased because I have started the diet, and I have all the food I can eat on that diet. It's a good feeling.

Home
I'm so thankful to be home again, sleeping in my bed with my husband, and all the familiar comforts that all suggests. Altho I enjoyed myself immensely at my sister's, and would return in a heartbeat (if only it were that fast), it is good to be back and to have all the new beginnings of a new year before me.
